Apo-Primidone

Apo-Primidone (Primidone) is used either alone or in combination with other medicine to manage seizures. It is part of the barbiturate anticonvulsants class of medication. It works by managing abnormal electric activity which occurs in the brain during a seizure. By managing seizures better patients are at less risk of harming themselves while conscious.

Apo-Primidone (Primidone) is usually taken 2 to 4 times per day or as prescribed by your doctor. Dosing can be done either alongside food or on an empty stomach. If you experience nausea after dosing, it may help to dose alongside food.

Results may not be noticed for several weeks. If you do not notice the benefits for several weeks, consult your doctor to discuss your options.

Possible side effects when taking Apo-Primidone (Primidone) include:

• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Weakness
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Abnormal bruising or bleeding
• Fainting
• Reduced heart beat
• Changed breathing
• Pale skin
• Vision changes
• Loss of libido
• Loss of coordination
• Loss of appetite

Patients who already take anticonvulsants for conditions such as seizures or manic depression may experience depression or suicidal thoughts when taking Apo-Primidone (Primidone).
