Atarax

Atarax (Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride) is an antihistamine prescribed as a short-term treatment to help manage nervousness and tension linked to mental conditions like dementia and anxiety. The medication is also effective in reducing the itchiness caused by allergies and in helping to calm patients before or after a surgical procedure. Some physicians may prescribe it for use alongside certain pain killer to improve their success. This drug works by affecting levels of histamine, serotonin, and acetylcholine.
