Benz Perals

Benz Perals (Benzonatate) is a non-narcotic cough suppressant. It can last from 6 to 8 hours. It acts like a local anesthetic in the lower airway of the lung reducing the need to cough after a deep breath. It is prescribed to treat coughs caused by common colds and several other conditions such as asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema.

Take Benz Perals (Benzonatate) as instructed by your doctor. Dosage will vary depending on your condition. Do not change your dosage without consulting your doctor beforehand. Do not start taking, stop taking, or change the dosage of any other medication you may be taking.

To be taken orally, either with or without food. Swallow whole without chewing or sucking. This is to ensure the medication does not begin its slow release whilst still in the mouth, as this can present certain risks such as serious allergic reaction.

The medication normally takes effect roughly 15 minutes after administration, and lasts for several hours.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If, however, it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue from the next dose as normal. Never double up a dosage to make up for a missed previous one.
