Cozaar

Cozaar (Losartan Potassium) is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It is effective when used alone or with other high blood pressure medications, such as diuretics that help the body get rid of water. This drug is the first of a new class of blood pressure medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works, in part, by preventing the hormone angiotensin II from constricting the blood vessels, which tends to raise blood pressure.

Cozaar (Losartan Potassium) can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day. For example, if you take the medication every morning before or after breakfast, you will establish a regular routine and be less likely to forget your dose.

More common side effects of Cozaar (Losartan Potassium) may include cough, dizziness, upper respiratory infection. Less common and rare side effects may include allergic reactions, back and leg pain, diarrhoea, indigestion, insomnia, muscle cramps or pain, nasal congestion, sinus problems, swelling of face, lips, throat, and tongue.

This drug does not cure high blood pressure; it merely keeps it under control.

t is very important that women who are pregnant not take this medication as it may cause injury or even death to the foetus.

If you have an allergic or hypersensitive reaction, seek emergency medical attention. Possible symptoms include difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, swelling, chest tightness, skin rashes, and hives.

Cozaar (Losartan Potassium) should only be used as instructed and prescribed by your physician or pharmacist. Do not alter your dosage unless specifically instructed to do so by either of the above. Dosage and usage often depends on the severity of the condition, as well as the patient`s medical history and current health condition.
