Entacom

Entacom (Entacapone) is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson`s disease, such as muscle spasms and stiffness. It is designed to be used only in combination with other drugs such as carbidopa and levodopa. This medication may be prescribed to treat other conditions, as determined by your physician.

Always follow your prescription. Do not self medicate or change your dosage without the advice of your physician. Dosing can usually be done either with or without food. If you experience nausea after dosing it is recommended you dose with at least a light snack. Keep all appointments with your physician. Patients usually require regular checkups and close monitoring while taking Entacom (Entacapone) so your physician can adjust your dosage based on your ongoing progress.

Common side effects of Entacom (Entacapone) which are usually mild and not persisting include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Anxiousness
• Dry mouth
• Loss of appetite
• Changes to your skin
• Changes to your urine colour

All side effects should be reported to your physician. If you have any which persist, worsen, or become bothersome, inform your physician promptly.

The following side effects are more serious and require immediate medical attention.

• Fainting
• Flu-like symptoms
• Severe diarrhoea
• Bloody urine or stools
• Jaundice
• Confusion
• Hallucinating
• Shakes
• Tremors
• Uncontrolled movements
• Abnormal changes to your sex drive
• Any symptoms of an allergic reaction (such as difficulty breathing, a tight chest, swelling, and rashes)

Do not consume alcohol while taking Entacom (Entacapone).

Patients using this medication have an increased risk of developing skin cancer, so should avoid exposure to sunlight as much as possible, and should check themselves regularly for skin cancer.
