Furoxone

Furoxone (Furazolidone) is used to treat infections which are protozoal or bacterial. These types of infections are affected by many different parts of the body and may have symptoms like diarrhea or inflammation.

This drug works by destroying the miniscule,one cell organisms that cause the infection. The medicine accesses the intestinal tract to treat the side effects of cholera, diarrhea, colitis or giardiasis.

It may be used either on its own or in combination with other medicines to enhance its benefits.

As dosage can vary depending on the type of infection you have, you should always seek your physician`s advice to ensure you are safely medicating to limit the risks of side effects. A typical dosage is 100mg of Furoxone (Furazolidone), taken 4 times per day, for a period of 5 to 10 days. Children and elderly or ill patients will usually require a lower dosage than otherwise healthy adults.

Notify your physician of any side effects you have when taking Furoxone (Furazolidone), doing so as soon as possible if the side effect is persistent, worsening, or worrying. Some of the side effects which have been reported by patients are listed below.

• Abdomen pains
• Joint pains
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Changes in urine colour
• Fever symptoms
• Sore throat
• Skin rash(es)
