Lanthonate (Lanthanum Carbonate) is prescribed to patients who have a kidney disease and are on dialysis. It works to reduce the high levels of phosphate in the blood.

Dosage and Administration

How much Lanthonate (Lanthanum Carbonate) you take and how often will depend upon your medical condition. Take the chewable tablets strictly as directed by your physician, with meals. Do not alter your dose or suddenly stop taking Lanthonate without consulting your physician beforehand, even if you are feeling better. If you do, your symptoms may get worse and increase the risk of unwanted side effects.

Side effects

As with all medications, Lanthonate (Lanthanum Carbonate) has the potential to cause side effects in some patients. Common side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, a runny nose, nausea, sneezing, a dialysis graft blockage, hypotension, and difficulty using your bowel. If you experience these symptoms continue taking your medication and contact your physician.

Precautions
