Description

Uses

Luprac (Torasemide) is a water pill which works by increasing the output of urine released by the body. This helps to treat edema (fluid retention). In some cases, physicians may also recommend it as a treatment for hypertension (high blood pressure) in cases where other medicines fail to prove effective. Edema may occur in patients suffering due to various medical conditions, including congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis or kidney disorders.

Excess amounts of fluid are retained in the body, which results in a buildup of fluid in the ankles, legs (peripheral edema) or lungs (pulmonary edema). When administered, this loop diuretic medicine starts to work by triggering an increase in the excretion of electrolytes and water from the blood. Removing the excess fluid thereby helps to treat edema and alleviate the symptoms it causes. The active ingredient in this medicine is also spelled as Torsemide.

Dosage and Administration

Luprac (Torasemide) tablets are available as a 4mg strength formulation. After a medical assessment, your physician will be able to calculate the correct daily dosage. In some cases, physicians may direct adults to take 1 to 2 tablets as a single dose, administered once per day. Ensure that you strictly adhere to all dosage instructions given by the physician responsible for treatment. Under no circumstances should you take more than the recommended daily dosage, as this is hazardous for your health.
