Malaseb Medicated Shampoo (Miconazole Nitrate/Chlorhexidine Gluconate) and Pyohex Conditioner (Chlorhexidene Gluconate) are both used to treat pets for skin disorders, including seborrheic dermatitis, ringworm and other bacterial skin infections. Malaseb Combo Pack contains both of these products, which work differently to combat the signs of skin disease. Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition which is caused by staphylococcus (a type of bacteria) and a yeast known as malassezia, whereas ringworm (also known by the scientific name dematophytosis) occurs due to a fungal infection.

Various factors such as allergies, mites, fleas and excess sweating can contribute to an overgrowth of bacteria and yeasts. This can lead to dermatitis, ringworm or bacterial skin infections. Treatment with this shampoo or conditioner helps to eliminate the microorganisms responsible for the infection, thereby decreasing the levels of bacteria and yeasts to a controllable level. It can also help rid the fur of pollens and other allergens, a known cause of skin irritation. Crusting and skin oils caused by infection can be removed from the skin due to treatment, allowing the animal to properly recover.

Malaseb Combo Pack - Malaseb Medicated Shampoo (Miconazole Nitrate/Chlorhexidine Gluconate) and Pyohex Conditioner (Chlorhexidene Gluconate) must be used in strict accordance with the instructions provided by the veterinarian. When washing your dog with the shampoo, it is possible that the veterinarian will advise you to wet its coat first, after which the shampoo can be applied and spread into a rich lather.

A sponge may be used. Wait 10 minutes, ensuring that the dog does not lick the foam, before washing it off. The conditioner is usually applied after the shampoo has been rinsed off but while the coat is still wet. Generally, veterinarians will advise owners of dogs suffering from active infections to apply it 2 times per week. After this, the frequency of bathing may be decreased to once per week or fortnight so as to prevent the symptoms from returning.
