Puralube

Puralube Vet Ointment (Light Mineral Oil/White Petrolatum) is used to treat and relive ocular dryness and irritation in dogs, cats and horses. Its mode of action involves causing a film to form over the eyes, so as to guard against irritation. In addition to this, it may also lubricate the eyes. Other potential applications include eye protection when grooming, so as to prevent irritation caused by shampoo and water and use in procedures that require anesthesia. One of the active ingredients in this ointment (white petrolatum or petroleum jelly) is widely used as a topical treatment for many different conditions and is well known for its lubricant properties. Mineral oil is also commonly used in ointments and lotions and is added to this sterile ointment.

Puralube Vet Ointment (Light Mineral Oil/White Petrolatum) must be administered in strict compliance with the instructions provided by the veterinarian. Owners are normally told to pull down the bottom eyelid on the eye that needs treatment and to apply a small (quarter inch) strip of ointment to the inside of the eyelid. If the ointment does not have the desired effect of if your pet`s condition becomes more serious, stop using it and take it to a vet so that any necessary treatment may be provided.

Pets treated with Puralube Vet Ointment (Light Mineral Oil/White Petrolatum) might show some signs of side effects, such as:

• Watery eyes
• Light sensitivity
• Eyelid inflammation
• Blurring of eyesight
• Redness affecting the eyes

If you think that your pet is suffering from side effects, take it to a veterinarian immediately.

This ointment is supplied in a tube. Do not allow the tip of the tube or the cap to become contaminated as this could lead to an infection. Make sure that the cap is tightly closed after you finish using the ointment.

It is very important to note that this product is a topical ointment for external use on animals only. Under no circumstances should it be consumed orally by any animal or human. Never apply it to your own eyes or the eyes of any other humans, as it is only for veterinary use.
