Sodium Ascorbate Solution

Sodium Ascorbate is indicated in the treatment of Vitamin C deficiency when patients are unable to absorb sufficient Vitamin C when taking it by mouth. Recent studies also suggest Sodium Ascorbate can have positive effects in cancer treatment.

Each vial of sodium ascorbate solution contain 30g in 100mL of liquid for injection or infusion.

Sodium Ascorbate solution should only be injected by a doctor, or by somebody who has been clearly instructed how to perform the injections.

Your doctor will prescribe an individualized dosage. Take only the dosage you have been prescribed and follow all other instructions provided by your doctor.

Sodium Ascorbate can cause some unwanted side effects in some people. Your doctor will be aware of this and has decided that the benefit of treatment outweighs the risk of side effects.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of these side effects that may be a sign of allergic reaction:

• shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness of chest, wheezing
• reddened skin
• fever
• general weakness or discomfort
• skin rash or itching
• nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or abdominal pain
• headache or dizziness

Sodium Ascorbate in contraindicated in cases where patients have kidney disease or kidney stones.

Before taking Sodium Ascorbate, tell your doctor if:

• you are allergic to any medicines
• you have haemochromatosis, thalassaemia, polycythemia, leukaemia or sideroblastic anaemia due to enhanced absorption of dietary iron
• you have high uric acidity
• you have high sodium levels
• you have sickle cell anemia
• you have G6PD (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase Deficiency)
• you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• if you are currently taking any other medicines
