Description

Uses

Transamine (Tranexamic Acid) is used to treat menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding). In addition to this, it may be used on a short term basis to treat patients affected by hemophilia. The medication operates by increasing the clotting action of the blood to slow or stop active bleeding.

Dosage and Administration

Consult your physician before using Transamine (Tranexamic Acid) to ensure the safest and most effective results from treatment. The normal dosage is one tablet administered two to four times each day, but your individual instructions will be determined by your health condition and the severity of your symptoms. These should be swallowed with a large glass of water and may be taken on an empty stomach. Never change the form of the tablets by splitting or crushing them as this may destroy or alter the effects of their contents.

Side effects

Transamine (Tranexamic Acid) can cause patients to experience side effects, such as:

  • Cramps

Immediate medical care is required if serious side effects occur such as changes in vision, coughing up blood, pain affecting the legs, seizures, severe headaches, or any other signs of a serious allergic reaction.
