Xet

Xet (Paroxetine) is an antidepressant used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic attacks, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. The medication operates by helping to restore the balance of serotonin in the brain to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Xet (Paroxetine) is normally taken once daily or as directed by your physician. The medication is normally taken once daily with a full glass of water and may be taken on an empty stomach. Always swallow the tablets whole and unaltered as splitting or crushing them may destroy or alter the effects of their contents. It should be noted that it may take several weeks of regular use before the desired effects of the medication are seen.

Side effects that may occur while using Xet (Paroxetine) include:

• Headaches
• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Mild nausea
• Insomnia or anxiety
• Decreased sex drive or impotence

Serious side effects that may occur are bone pain, low sodium levels, high serotonin levels, or severe skin rashes. Contact your physician if you experience any severe side effects to make sure any necessary changes are made.

Xet (Paroxetine) should not be used by patients who have epilepsy, bipolar disorder, or who are taking other MAOI medications or antipsychotic medications. Also inform your physician if you have heart disease, glaucoma, diabetes, a history of bleeding disorders, decreased liver function, or decreased kidney function to make sure any necessary adjustments are made to your dosage.
