Benzyl Benzoate

Benzyl Benzoate is a topical medication used in the treatment of scabies and other lice infestations, such as crab louse infestations and head louse infestations. Once absorbed by the mites and the lice, this drug will interfere with their nervous systems, paralysing them, preventing them from reproducing.

Always follow either you doctor`s instructions or the instructions on the packaging of the product. Using a cotton wool bud, or a brush, apply the lotion to your whole body, including your neck, face, scalp, and the webs of your fingers and toes. Avoid apply to any cuts, broken skin, sunburns, or too near to your eyes, mouth, nose, or ears. After applying, wait for 24 hours and then wash the lotion from your skin.

Benzyl Benzoate is very well tolerated and usually any side effects are only mild. When side effects do occur, it is important they are reported to your doctor promptly. General skin irritation is the most common side effect, and others include scaly skin, crusty skin, inflamed skin, and blisters.

Benzyl Benzoate is for external use only. Do not apply to any broken, cut, scraped, or burnt skin, and avoid applying too close to your mouth, eyes, nose, or ears.

Prior to using Benzyl Benzoate inform your doctor if you are using any other medication, including topical drugs, off-the-shelf drugs, supplements, and vitamins. Also check it is safe if you have any allergies, or other existing health conditions or illnesses, especially skin related, for example eczema.
