Cipril

Cipril (Lisinopril) is prescribed to reduce and manage hypertension (high blood pressure). As a result of lowering blood pressure, the associated risks of heart attack, kidney problems, and stokes are also reduced. It is usually only prescribed to patients who have already tried other hypertension drugs unsuccessfully. Additionally, it may be prescribed to prevent kidney damage as a result of heart failure or diabetes.

Always take Cipril (Lisinopril) as you have been prescribed. Correct dosage can vary depending on the patient and the severity of their hypertension. Tablets should be swallowed whole and washed down with a full glass of water. As this medication acts as a diuretic it is recommended that dosing is done in the morning so as not to disturb sleep. The benefits can usually be seen after 2 to 4 weeks of use.

• Lightheadedness
• Dry cough
• Increased urination

• Severe dry mouth
• Muscle cramps
• Cramps
• Changes to your heartbeat
• Faintness
• Tingling sensations
• Fever symptoms
• Sore throat
• Jaundice
• Seizures and convulsions
• Darkened urine
• Severe abdomen pains

Patients taking Cipril (Lisinopril) need to drink more water to offset the fluids lost due to the diuretic effects of this medication. Make sure you are well hydrated and drink plenty of water.

Diabetic patients need to monitor their blood sugar lever very closely as the diuretic effects of this medication may affect it.
