Uses

Lumacip Plus (Flucinolone Acetonide/Hydroquinone/Tretinoin) is a triple combination cream which works for melasma by lightening the skin, reducing inflammation and increasing exfoliation. Melasma is a skin condition which affects the appearance of the facial skin, causing brown patches to appear. These are due to excess melanin production (the pigment that gives the skin its color). Although experts are not entirely sure of what causes this condition, it could be related to pregnancy or medicines which have been taken by the affected patient. Sunlight is also believed to trigger it.

Three ingredients are contained in this cream. Flucinolone is classified as a mild anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, and it is said work by reducing inflammation on the skin. Hydroquinine (also called dihydroxybenzene) is a topical skin brightening agent which works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called tyrosinase. This in turn helps to prevent the formation of melanin and contributes to skin dipegmentation, allowing for the melanin patches to become brighter. Finally, tretinoin (also called all-trans retinoic acid) is added. It is a form of vitamin A which plays a key role in cellular growth and regeneration. Topical application helps to rejuvenate and revitalize the surface of the skin.

Dosage and Administration

Lumacip Plus (Flucinolone Acetonide/Hydroquinone/Tretinoin) cream is indicated for topical application. Strict compliance with the instructions given by your physician will be needed at all times. This cream works best if used at night, and physicians generally advise applying it 30 minutes before you go to bed. However, you may wish to wash your face before applying the cream, after which it should be gently patted dry.

Your physician may tell you to apply a small amount (1/2 inch) of cream onto the fingertip, after which it should be thinly coated onto the areas affected by hyperpigmentation. The cream should be gently rubbed into the skin, taking care to ensure that it doesn`t get into the mouth, eyes or nose. Generally, treatment is continued for a short period of time (8 weeks).
