Minidiab

Minidiab (Glipizide) is used by patients with type-2 diabetes to manage their condition by reducing their levels of blood glucose as a result of increased insulin production. It does this by stimulating the pancreas. This anti-diabetic medication should be taken alongside a healthy diet and exercise program for best results.

Please note that this medication is only effective when used to treat type-2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent). Also note that this medication will not cure the condition but does offer an effective means of managing it. Through better management of this condition, risks of kidney damage, heart hearts, strokes, blindness as well as problems with nerves or sexual function are reduced.

Minidiab (Glipizide) tablets are typically taken 30 minutes before a meal and washed down with a glass of water. Swallow tablets whole unless otherwise directed by your physician. An average starting dose may begin at 5mg with this increasing to a suitable amount for your exact situation. The maximum dose is 40mg per day and doses higher than 15mg, will be divided into different doses to take throughout the day. You must check your blood sugars like normal to monitor any changes and report to your physician.

The following side effects may be experience when taking Minidiab (Glipizide). Always disclose any side effects which you suffer to your physician.

• Headaches
• Feeling dizzy
• Diarrhea, gassiness
• Skin rashes, itchiness or hives

Severe but rare symptoms include:

• Hepatitis
• Jaundice
• Low sodium levels
• Hypoglycemia (this risk increases when combined with other glucose reducing agents)
