Moxif (Moxifloxacin) is prescribed to treat bacterial infections. It is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic which kills bacteria and prevents its growth. This medicine does not work for viral infections such as colds or the flu.

Dosage and Administration

How much Moxif (Moxifloxacin) you take and how often will depend on your medical condition. Take strictly as directed by your physician alongside a glass of water, with or without food. Ensure you drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine to help prevent the onset of unwanted side effects.

Do not alter your dose or suddenly stop taking it without consulting your physician, even if you are feeling better. If you do, your symptoms may get worse and risk the onset of unwanted side effects. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

Side effects

As with all medications, Moxif (Moxifloxacin) has the potential to cause side effects in some patients. Common side effects include nervousness, weakness, a spinning sensation, memory problems, a general feeling of illness, difficulty having a bowel movement, loss of hearing, sleepiness, sleeplessness, gas, heartburn, itching in the genital area or the vagina, and changes in your vision. If these symptoms get worse or do not go away, contact your physician.

Precautions

Do not take Moxif (Moxifloxacin) if you are allergic to it or to any of its ingredients.

Tell your physician if you have allergies to any other medications, dyes, food, preservatives, or any other substances, if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, and what other prescription, non-prescription, or herbal and dietary supplements you are taking.

Tell your physician if you have a spinal cord or brain disease, low potassium in your blood, heart problems, a recent heart attack, liver disease, sensitivity to sunlight, an organ transplant, a tendon disorder, or rheumatoid arthritis.
