Sompraz

Sompraz (Esomeprazole) is prescribed to help conditions where too much acid is present in the stomach. These conditions include duodenal ulcers and GERD, a condition also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease.

It is particularly useful for patients who suffer from swelling and irritation of the food pipe (esophagus) and are therefore unable to take medication orally. This sometimes occurs when excess stomach acid creeps up into the esophagus.

Some patients successfully use this medicine in combination with antibiotics. Others such as elderly patients and those with reoccurring ulcers use it alongside NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) to help reduce the risk of gastric ulcers.

Correct dosage can vary widely depending on the condition which is being treated, as well as the medical history and current health condition of the patient being treated.

Typically dosage can vary from 20mg to 240mg of Sompraz (Esomeprazole) per day, and the course of medication can range from 1 to 6 months.

• Nausea
• Stomach pains
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Dry mouth
