Uses

Otomax Ointment (Gentamicin/Betamethasone/Clotrimazole) is a combination of a corticosteroid, antibacterial medication, and antifungal medication prescribed to treat a wide variety of ear infections in dogs caused by bacteria or a fungus. The gentamicin and clotrimazole operate by interfering with cell wall production to destroy sensitive cells while disrupting reproduction to stop the spread of infection allowing the immune system to destroy it naturally.

At the same time, the betamethasone suppresses immune responses to reduce swelling, pain, and irritation that may occur as a result of the infection. This medication should not be used to treat infections caused by a virus. This ointment may be prescribed to be used along with other medicines or to treat other unlisted conditions.
