2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) is a new virus outbreak threatening world health. The virus originated in Wuhan, China. 2019-nCov has subsequently spread to many areas in the world, with confirmed cases of the virus reported in:

  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • Macau
  • Taiwan
  • Australia
  • Cambodia
  • Canada
  • France
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Nepal
  • Singapore
  • Thailand
  • The Republic of Korea
  • United States
  • Vietnam

Health experts have warned that as many as 100,000 people may already be infected with the virus and there are already been 82 confirmed deaths in China. There are now almost 3,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Many countries are warning their citizens not to travel to China, and screening of inbound passengers is happening in many of the world’s airports.

There is currently no known cure or vaccine for the coronavirus. Hospitals in China are trying to treat the virus with a combination of drugs previously used to treat HIV infections. This medicine is called Lopimune and is a combination of lopinavir and ritonavir.

Surgical face masks are being worn by many in an attempt to prevent the virus, however a leading virologist from Cambridge University has advised that the masks being purchased by the general public will do nothing. Only a properly fitted prophylactic mask will provide any barrier to entry.

United Pharmacies will soon have Lopimune back in stock. To check for availability and pricing, please email [email protected]
