Prevention of office diseases

In today’s world, many people work in offices. For several decades, doctors and scientists have drawn conclusions about health problems among office workers. It is a mistake to believe that a person who is mostly indoors is less prone to various diseases.

Indeed, office workers are in warm and dry conditions, unlike those who need to work outside, but such comfort does not protect against various disorders in the body and the functioning of the psyche.

The main harmful factors are:

  1. Office equipment.

The computer monitor disrupts the normal functionality of the eyes. Numbness of the hands and pain in the fingers may occur due to working on the keyboard. Electromagnetic radiation from a computer can have a negative effect on the whole body.

  1. Long and uncomfortable sitting.

Often, employees have a desk and chair that are not suitable for their height. At the same time, the distance to the monitor and the viewing angle change, excessive tension in the muscles of the spine, arms and legs appears. This leads to diseases such as scoliosis, osteochondrosis and varicose veins.

  1. Failure to maintain a work-life balance.

Forgetfulness or unwillingness to take a break contributes to the formation of chronic fatigue syndrome.

  1. Insufficient lighting and ventilation of the room.

Often the least attention is paid to the location of the workplace. You should not rely on artificial light sources, as they have flickering that is harmful to the retina of the eyes. It is better that the workplace is not far from the window. And insufficient or, on the contrary, too active ventilation (air conditioning system) causes disorders of the respiratory system and contributes to the development of heart diseases.

  1. Personal relationships.

Conflict situations and quarrels due to differences in values, goals, the authority of superiors, and family ties have a negative impact not only on productivity, but also on the psyche and even the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.

  1. Negative thinking and chronic stress.

As a rule, these factors appear as a result of negative experiences, mistakes and criticism of colleagues. In addition, working late and on weekends also have a negative impact on a person’s mental health.

The main ways to prevent diseases:

  1. Follow the rules when working with computer equipment.

The distance from your eyes to the monitor screen should be at least 45 cm, whether you are reading a text or watching a video. Moreover, the viewing angle should be no more than 35 degrees. If you have visual impairment, you should periodically take drugs that support vision, for example, Bilberry with Lutein or Bilberry-MIC.

You need to keep your hands on the keyboard correctly. Hands should not hang down or, on the contrary, reach up. It will also be very useful to master the skill of typing with ten fingers.

  1. Comfortable seat.

It is necessary to have a table and a chair at the workplace that have such a height that when sitting, your thighs are parallel and your shins are perpendicular to the floor.
